Astan Quds Razavi held the traditional and ancient ritual of the Sham-e Qariban (The Evening of Strangers) in Enghelab Eslami courtyard of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).

The ceremony, held in the presence of Hoj. Marvi, the chief custodian of Astan Quds Razavi and a group of servants and pilgrims, observed mourning chants by the eulogists and preachers of the Infallible Imams (AS), namely Mehdi Nikbakht and Mehdi Mansouri.

This year, the ceremony was held in accordance with the coronavirus pandemic conditions, in full compliance with the health instructions and the servants of the holy shrine recited the Vareth Prayer in regular ranks while maintaining social distancing.

Every year, according to a long-standing tradition, the servants march from the Shohada Intersection to the holy shrine as accompanied by pilgrims holding candlesticks, beating their chests, and gathering in the Enghelab Eslami (Islamic Revolution) courtyard to mourn for the martyrs of Karbala battle. This year, however, due to the restrictions created by the outbreak, the ceremony was held in the presence of a limited number of servants and without marching from Shohada Intersection.

The program was displayed to the pilgrims and the lovers of the Infallible Imams (AS) live from wide TV screens in the courtyards of the holy shrine and also through the Razavi TV internet portal.
